Explore Dance Company holds on annual charity benefit concert in late April. (Mark your calendars now for Cinematic––Friday, April 28 at the Nampa Civic Center!) It's the one big show for which we spend the entire year working, preparing and rehearsing. However, it's not the only performing we get to do throughout the year. We often have opportunities to share our love for dance at various nonprofit and community events. One of our company members has two kiddos who attend Cole Valley Christian School. When we found out their annual teacher Christmas party was hawaii themed we just couldn't pass up the opportunity to perform Ke Alaula.
Ke alaula can be literally translated “the flaming pathway” and refers to the light of the morning sun breaking through the darkness. Performed in three groups: the dawning (alaula), land (`āina) and sea (kai), this piece speaks to forging a new path of light for the generations to come. Sounds like a perfect dance for a group of educators.
Thank you Cole Valley Christian for letting us be a part of your event!
